god cookies

Okay, so it’s probably a bit cheesy to coin this phrase, but we can’t think of a better way to put it.  Sometimes God gives us a cookie.  An unexpected, extra gooey, unmerited moment when we feel His complete and utter blessing on our lives.  I love it.

Here are a few recent God cookies:

.1.God sent a woman to buy our car (that we sold for adoption fundraising purposes) that has been an escort for international adoptions.  She also has a niece who is Ethiopian.
.2.Running into a woman at a near by park last summer who had adopted a beautiful baby Asian girl through Children’s Home, and told us about her great experience.
.3.A couple in our church gave us money anonymously to help us get started realizing a dream.
.4.A woman came into my office at work today with dangling gold earrings shaped like the continent of Africa, she went on to tell me that she was a retired missionary from there now looking to complete a degree in counseling.   She had a large part in starting an AIDS counseling process in Kenya.  Guess where they started their ministry and lived for many years?  Ethiopia.  We had a wonderful time sharing together today.  She genuinely shared my excitement in bringing home one of the wonderful children from a country she has been privileged to see first hand.

So these are just a few moments on our journey that God has overwhelmed me. I have no doubt He will continue to surprise us along the way.  These things aren’t required of God, He doesn’t have to choose to bless us beyond what we can ask or imagine, but He does.  He gives us cookies, and oh how we savor the ingredients.
