adoption update: phew!

Well today was another big day!  Our social worker (who wondered why we hadn’t talked about how AWESOME she is on our blog - that’s just for you K) visited our home for our last home study visit.  We enjoyed giving her the quick tour of our place and talking through the next steps in our process.  Her visit yesterday marked our official approval to become adoptive parents!

Now, our approval papers will be filed and our home study report will be written.  Will will submit our “Application for Advance Processing of Orphan Petition” with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service and our Ethiopia Program Specialist will help us work through the process of preparing our dossier.  Though it sounds like like a lot, we’re getting used to the rhythm of the process and look forward to completing these steps.

Thanks for your continued thoughts and prayers everyone!  We’re heading out to San Diego tomorrow and look forward to a relaxing vacation to celebrate our 10th anniversary.  It will also be our last vacation before our adoption is finalized, so it will be a special week for us.  We’ll post some photos and keep you posted from beautiful southern California!
