A light went out on earth today.
Extinguished far too soon by human reason.
How dear, how sweet, how tender that light that burned so brightly.
We all became attached to that light.
When a light goes off we sit in a dark space for a time.
It’s humanities way of mourning the absence of that light.
We reminisce about it’s beauty, incandescence, it’s warmth.
Yet those memories will not bring that light back.
To go on in the dark would be an atrocity.
Isn’t that what we must do?
Pick up our feet and keep moving, doing and being.
Won’t we stumble in the dark?
To go on in the dark would somehow tarnish the memory of that light.
Does light wish us to forget it’s brilliance and be satisified with the dark?
To walk in this wan version of what once was so vivid, seems only a half-life.
Is this what is required?
A light went out on earth today.
But almost instantaneously, forthwith a light burst into being.
It’s radiance is just out of our temporal view.
Nevertheless this light now glows in the heavenly realms, eternally.
