not your typical day
Ok, so yesterday morning Dan calls me shortly after he left for the day letting me know that the police stopped him as he was exiting our town home development. They checked his trunk and let him know they were “looking for someone.” They didn’t elaborate, but a quick check online let us know that someone had evaded the police on foot in our area, after stabbing a police dog. Read here for the whole story.
So I’m thinking to myself....”so there’s a miscreant running around the area, they will catch him soon I’m sure.” Little did I know that our town home development was in the MIDDLE of the search perimeter. All day long I watched out the window as police officers and S.W.A.T. team members crawl across the front yard, walk right by my living room windows, peeking in with their gun raised. We live in a new development where there are only 15 townhouses, and about 10-12 single family dwellings. There are several acres in front of my home of Minnesota landscape, grass, a pond, and a large wood. So there was a lot of terrain to search. I really did fine with all of this until at one moment I look out and there are 6 S.W.A.T. guys dressed in fatigues mind you with large machine guns come up over my hill, and start doing the army crawl in my front yard. Seriously! I felt like I was in the middle of an episode of Law and Order or something like that. I got freaked out at that point.
I kept thinking...I’m not used to stuff like this. I don’t want to be caught in some kind of cross fire. They believed the man to be armed and dangerous. To be honest I was not worried that he was going to come to my home, but that the cops would see him and start shooting near my house! OH well....all the drama is over now. They were unable to find him, and called off the large scale manhunt in the evening yesterday. All is well on my home front, but it made for a very strange day! Just thought I’d share!
