road tripping

Dan and I got news last week that our adoption referral will be delayed yet again.  Approximately 3 to 5 more months.  To say we were discouraged would be putting it lightly.  I was in short - devastated.  I am so tired and weary in the wait.  Yet I know that God is working this all out according to His purposes and plans.  SO....what did we decide to do?  GO ON A ROAD TRIP!!!

We are clearing our heads out and spending 2 solid weeks together in our car.  We started out the trip in Nebraska finally catching up with my Dad and Truie since our Christmas get together plans were foiled due to sour weather.  Then Tuesday morning we got in the Prius and headed to Colorado.  We stopped in Colorado Springs for the night.  Tried to go up PIkes Peak but it was already closed.  That’s ok...we’ve been there before.  We did swing thru the Garden of the Gods (pictured above) and had a marvelous time pretending we were in Cair Paravel - Narnia.  We have been listening to the Narnian Chronicles on CD in the car and seriously the whole trip looks like Narnia come alive to us.  It’s been fun!

Then on Wednesday morning we made the long drive down to Phoenix.  We are staying with my cousin and see all of my AZ relatives and having a grand time.  It’s so great to connect again even if it’s only for a night or two.  On Sunday we are “tripping” over to San Diego to visit our old “haunts.”  We lived there as many of you know for 2 years right after we got married.  Can’t wait!  Then we will round out our trip in Tucson to see Grandpa and Grandma Husted.  It’s been WAY too long since we’ve gotten hugs from them.

God, thank you so much for the ability to spend quality time together during this really “trying” time emotionally.  You are a good God and I will NOT forget it or give in to any idea that contradicts it.  AMEN.
