couples shower

Last night was our first “shower” for baby!  What a surreal experience to be having a baby shower after nearly a decade of trying to start a family.  Seriously....very strange.  I gotta admit it was a bit hard to have everyone watching as we opened up all the presents.  I’m not always one for being in the CENTER of attention.  It was a really affirming and blessed time though.  

My friends’ Heidi and Denise threw it for us, and invited all of the full time ministry staff and some of the office staff as well from our church.  We had 3 kinds of gourmet homemade soup, Cheesy Potato with herbs and saffron, Venison Bourginon Stew, and Bean with Collared Greens (courtesy of Jim & Denise Scott) and homemade Almond Florentine cookies with vanilla ice cream for dessert (courtesy of Heidi McDowell.)  AMAZING.  

We then made our way out to the rec room where we were blessed with tons of diapers and gifts!  There was a drawing for everyone who brought us a package of diapers.  Our Middle School pastor and her husband (Cindy & Cory Jones) won the drawing.  ($25 AMC gift card and candy)

We got home and toted it all up to Tate’s room, thus the picture you see here.
