reflections on the lake

Dan and I spent a lovely morning on Lake Peltier today.  It started out just perfectly for a leisurely kayak trip, and then for whatever reason the wind picked up and it became quite choppy.
We plunked our way out there anyway.
We love this lake because there are very few motor boats, and lots of wildlife to take in.  Due to our recent rains here in MN, the algae seemed down a bit, and overall the lake depth was a bit better than it had been.
We paddled, well I paddled, and Dan motored (on his motorized kayak - Mokai) to a point where we actually both began paddling around an island.  It’s only navigable by non-motorized crafts such as mine!  So Dan shut off his motor and paddled his boat too.  We came around the corner, of the peninsula completely alone except for the bald eagles circling above our heads.  Yes I said bald eagles.  They were hunting in this area, and no joke, about 30 feet from our boats, we watched a bald eagle fighting against a head wind, glide down...talons poised and protruding, swoop down and catch a fish.  It was unreal.  We’d never seen anything like this up close unless we were watching an old Mutual of Omaha Wild Kingdom special on TV.  It was AWESOME!!!
Minnesota has some spectacular natural sights!
